Description
We changed the branding from a map pin to a system based on a square containing 3 words. It explains the underlying technology that makes 3 word addresses possible and useful.
what3words is a global addressing system and the design needs to inform every user, from Tongan postmen to German asset managers, how to use it.
The 3 word address symbol is used to help identify trillions of addresses in 14 languages so people understand that any 3 words with /// are an address, e.g. ///index.home.raft
The brand identity consistent but flexible as it works in the real world on signage, in navigation apps, books, services, products, text, etc
Execution
what3words brand identity has been executed across all corporate communications, from brochures in multiple languages and industries, to the website rebrand, app updates, etc.
The 3 word address symbol has been used by people, governments, NGOs, Navigation and Taxi apps, Tourism listings and hotel signage, post offices, courier companies, wearables and drone companies.
Anywhere you could see an address is where our branding can be seen and must be useful.
Outcome
what3words achieved it's funding round targets.
Over 400 companies now use 3 word addresses in their businesses, including pizza delivery, taxis, courier companies, tourism and asset management.
