OVERVIEW

Description

For a bird, spotless clear glass is a hazard. That’s why the iconic Windex birds are now waging an all-out smear campaign against the blue liquid that makes glass too clear and hard to see. They’re even creating their own propaganda videos and anti-clean glass products. Of course, Windex isn’t about to let the birds’ argument go unchallenged and will respond with its own rebuttal to the birds’ claims. The ensuing back and forth dialogue between the two sides, clean vs. dirty, will remind people to pick up their Windex and use it more often.

Execution

The Windex birds’ anti-clean glass campaign was executed on TV, in 3 spots that urged people to “Say NO to spotless clear Windex glass” and marketed their own dirty glass products including “Smudge Stick” and “Schmindex.”

Windex answered the anti-clean glass campaign with a tongue-in-cheek PR rebuttal, dismissing the birds’ antics.

Online, the birds created a hub for their dirty window propaganda called, “SayNoToClearGlass.com.” Their site parodied a Windex webpage with the opposite point of view, “DontStandForDirty.com.” Both sites hosted online videos, downloadable content, and interactive tools such as a virtual smudge stick that allowed users to smudge anything online.

On social media, the birds trolled the Windex Facebook page as they commented regularly about their opposition to clean glass.

In print and in stores, the birds vandalized Windex ads and coupons by smudging out headlines to create new messages.
