Description
To launch the product integration, we gave fans a chance to connect with some of their favorite artists in 10 cities. Fans were picked up by their favorite artists and taken to secret exclusive launch parties/performances. The launch started in Sydney and Singapore, continued in Stockholm and London, followed by New York, Toronto, Nashville and ended in Mexico City, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Emails from Uber and Spotify teased anticipation from both user bases, resulting in more than 60,000 people linking their accounts on launch day.
And of course, the ability to pair your music with your ride continues after launch day, with people using Uber and Spotify together in more than 50 countries everyday.
Execution
Users connect their accounts in a couple quick steps through the Uber app and whenever they request a ride, they have the option to play any music from their Spotify account. When the ride arrives, they just hop in and rock out. There’s no need for the driver or rider to install Spotify on their phones.
The integration was announced in emails, through mobile messages and social channels.
Outcome
Over 60,000 people activated the integration on launch day, and the integration continues to be used daily in more than 50 countries.
