The world’s first fan film 2.0.For EURO 2008, YouTube embarked on a worldwide unique film experiment: together with director Detlev Buck, the YouTube Community produced the world’s first user-generated film for cinema. Following a pan-European call for entries, thousands of YouTube users uploaded their fan clips to the national “23 Days” channels. Using the best footage, Buck produced the first EURO docu 2.0. A multicultural film diary, which documents the 23 days of EURO 2008; made by fans, for fans. Before the film was released, a premiere was organised in Germany with all the film-makers. In August, the film “23 Days” went on general release in German cinemas.
