Description
In February 2013, BlackBerry released their new smartphone: The Z10. We wanted to get people excited about its innovative interface and revolutionary features. It had to be more than a demo. What would it feel like if the Z10 was already in your hand?
We created a product movie with a twist. We made it personal. A customised demo. Rendered in real-time. Powered by your life - your friends, your photos, your conversations. Because a device only comes to life when it belongs to you.
Execution
We knew that users needed to experience the power of BlackBerry 10 to understand its significance. So we created the opportunity for people to race the Z10 from their own mobile phones, whatever they are. Using Channel Connect we allowed users to sync their mobile phones directly with the ad on the web page they’re on, and AppEngine facilitated communication directly with the banner.
Outcome
Nearly a quarter of a million people over a two day period took up the challenge to compete with the Z10 on its launch in the UK. Every major smart phone was represented. The best result - 92% of the time the Z10 won the typing challenge.
