OVERVIEW

Please tell us how the brand purpose inspired the work

South Korea, among OECD countries, has one of the worst track records in addressing the issue of gender inequality. As a newspaper, Jeonnam Ilbo felt that it was their responsibility to raise awareness about this pertinent issue in an impactful manner.

In South Korea, most of the approaches taken to alleviate the problem of gender inequality involve providing new opportunities. Although this approach is important, more attention should be given to address the current problem of bias in data: we live in a world where majority of the data that we encounter is male-centered. New opportunities will only be able to have their full effect if structural constraints are addressed and the bias present in the current structure should not carry over to the domain of AI where the foundation of our future is being built.
