Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The film opens with a clip of an Olympian just as she is about to start her event, taking a breath, finding calm; the film later cuts to various groups of people worldwide watching the start of various Winter Olympic events from snowboarding to bobsledding, while going about their daily lives.
As soon as the starting gun sounds, collectives of people interpret and copy the Olympian's actions as they go through different stages of their event. These interpretations occur in numerous different environments, from a set of escalators to a classroom.
As the film continues, so does the replication of the Olympian's movements, leading up to and including when the Olympian falls mid-event. The fall, felt by all, causes a stillness followed by the rise and the continuation of the Olympian's event, later concluded with clips of various victories - highlighting the power of solidarity the Winter Olympics embodies.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
There is a truth in saying winter sports have an added layer of vulnerability. The natural environments are often harsher, the falls can be more frequent - the suspense couldn’t be more completing. The unbelievable spectacle is unique. We don’t just tune in to watch athletes win, we want to watch them rise on a global stage.
Every rise, every fall, every victory - we're in it together' highlights the power of solidarity the Olympics embodies.
Spotlighting the unique relationship between Olympians and their supporters across the world, as they mirror the athletes’ movements, it demonstrates the impact of this human connection, showcasing how the belief of others powers people.
The short film is part of the International Olympic Committee’s 'Stronger Together' campaign ahead of the winter edition of the Olympic Games, celebrating the power of sport and the Olympics to unite people and communities across the world.
