Background

Gen-Z men struggle with societal stereotypes and expectations, particularly those portrayed in advertising, which often depict "sterotypical successful men." This pressure can lead to depression as young men find it challenging to meet these standards.

The goal is to create a visual that offers support to Gen-Z globally.

Creative Idea

Recognizing that the young generation spends much of their time online and on their phones, we created an "iPhone" grid with apps that conceal a positive message. This hidden message is designed to encourage authenticity and self-acceptance among young users. By incorporating this message into a familiar format, we aim to reach and resonate with Gen-Z in a way that feels natural and engaging. Our goal is to inspire them to embrace their true selves and reject societal pressures, promoting mental well-being and self-love. This approach leverages technology to spread positivity and support to a generation constantly connected through their devices.

Strategy and Insight

Insight: Many of us use smartphones filled with various apps that, while often helpful, can also contribute to anxiety and depression. These apps frequently showcase "fake" success, creating unrealistic standards for money, success, appearance, and lifestyle. This constant exposure can make individuals feel inadequate and uncomfortable, especially young people who are still forming their identities.

We decided to address this issue by taking the very apps that often bring anxiety and twisting their purpose to spread a positive message. By using the logos of these popular apps, we created a visual that spells out "BE YOUR SELF." This message is designed to encourage authenticity and self-acceptance among Gen-Z, who are heavily influenced by the content they consume on their devices.

Our approach leverages the familiarity and recognizability of these app logos to convey an uplifting message. Instead of contributing to the pressures and unrealistic standards, we use these symbols to promote mental well-being and self-love. The clean, straightforward visual of a device with this positive message aims to resonate deeply with young people, reminding them to embrace their true selves and reject societal pressures. This twist transforms a source of discomfort into a beacon of support and encouragement for the Zoomer generation.

Execution

In the visual, we used popular apps among young people to highlight the main message, "BE YOUR SELF." We arranged the app logos to spell out this encouraging phrase. The design is clean and features a recognizable device, ensuring it resonates with the audience and reinforces the message of authenticity and self-acceptance.

We intentionally designed the visual to resemble a phone advertisement to catch the viewer's attention. Upon closer inspection, the hidden positive message is revealed, encouraging deeper engagement and reflection.
