OVERVIEW

Background

Billy Wilder's movies reflect life during his time. The exhibition based on his work helps us understand the social issues and culture of those eras.

The goals for creating a brand identity for this exhibition are:

1. Help people connect with his movies and understand their messages.

2. Build an image that quickly sparks curiosity in people."

By reaching these goals, we want to make the exhibition leaving a lasting impression on everyone who visits. The project includes designing the logo, creating marketing materials, and setting up branding across all exhibition rooms. This involves digital and print media, signage, and merchandise, ensuring consistency and visibility throughout the exhibition.

In summary, the project aims to create an engaging and memorable experience that honors Billy Wilder's work and legacy.

Describe the creative idea

Creating a unique imagery that matches the aim of MIS was very important. Our mission was to keep the essence of black-and-white movies alive while also maintaining a balanced contrast overall. The logo needed to be dynamic and adaptable to various situations, but still unique and clearly visible in black-and-white environments.

These shapes are designed as a reference to the diversity of cinema films created throughout Billy Wilder's lifetime. We likened these shapes to the patterns inside kaleidoscopes. A kaleidoscope is

an intricate, multifaceted object that produces endless, vibrant patterns, much like Wilder's diverse and richly textured body of work. His films spanned various genres—comedy, drama, film noir—and were known for their depth, wit, and innovation.

Just as a kaleidoscope offers a new perspective with every twist, Wilder's films consistently provided unexpected, and engaging narratives that captivated audiences and critics alike.

Describe the execution

We designed the logos to be particularly dynamic. This allows them to continue fitting into each room of the exhibition and overall in all

situations. The logos consist of typography and shapes behind them.

Headlines: We thought using strong sentences would make the visuals more powerful. So, we decided on a concept that would make people think.

The typeface: We selected a serif font that is easy to read, blending old and modern atmospheres seamlessly. At larger sizes, the modern design becomes more prominent.
