OVERVIEW

Background

Blah Blah Blah. Those were Greta Thunberg's famous words at COP26 about how our world leaders are handling the climate crisis. There are no actions, only empty words. Greta is not alone; according to Gallup, 89% of people want stronger climate action by governments. We need to flip the script and have the power of the people move the people in power.

Describe the creative idea

Chew Some Action is a collection of chewing gums, produced from dandelions. A small physical product to start a huge digital social movement. It manifests the Blah Blah Blah language of today’s politicians and demands them to stop talking and take action. The initiative launches on TikTok as the world’s first chain of protest duets, spreading our message through word of mouth, literally.

This is not about selling chewing gum. It’s about reimagining our logo, making it a relatable part of everyday life that individuals can rally around and share across the globe. In a universal language. Making it easier to declare that “I’m a Dandelion, and I want the leaders at COP30 to Chew Some Action.”

By not saying anything, we say everything.

Describe the strategy

The climate justice organization, Project Dandelion is poised to lead this important shift, with over 12,000 people already united under their symbol. However, we need more engaged and alarmed young people to join us. And for our initiative to reach the attention from COP delegates, we must present our symbol in a new and thought-provoking way.

The solution grows within the Dandelion itself. The weeds are now the most sustainable alternative to synthetic rubber and can be extracted and turned into chewing gum since most gums are based on synthetical rubber today. Coincidence? We don’t think so.

Describe the execution

As COP30 approaches, Chew Some Action will be launched. Packages will be sent to activists, urging them to post their chewing on TikTok to create the world’s first chain protest with the duet function under #ChewSomeAction. With 34 million TikToks being uploaded every day, we will easily reach and mobilize the 10 million people Dandelions aims to unite for COP30.

On our website, people can order our packages to encourage friends to join our cause and to send to the COP delegates as a symbolic reminder to stop talking and start acting.

During the conference, Dandelions’ spokesperson, the well-known COP speaker Mary Robinson, will ultimately hold her speech by silently chewing in front of the audience.

All this combined will put Dandelions’ agenda on everyone’s lips, literally, and show that it’s time to make decisions to create a better future for the next generations to come.

And it starts with our chewing gum.
