Description
Telecos go on about their networks being fast and reliable but consumers don’t understand what this means. To get people to appreciate the reliability and speed of Vodafone’s 4G network we upped the stakes and made it a matter of life and death. We challenged world champion drift driver Mike Whiddet to race his car around a custom-made drift course with blacked out windows. Camera phones were mounted on the roof of Mike’s RX7. Their live video feed was streamed 180 kilometers to Vodafone’s core network and back to four tablets inside the blacked out racecar. To put extra skin in the game Vodafone’s Tony Braid, head of the 4G network, went along for the ride. This radical partnership between Mad Mike and Vodafone created the world’s first 4G driven car. The stunning piece of content was shared on Mike’s Facebook page where it was endorsed by his fan base.
