Description
Millions of landmines are mutilating civil persons, especially women and children, in conflict areas all over the world. The clearing of these landmines costs a lot of money and cannot be afforded by the countries in the third world. But the German government can and should support the clearing of these landmines. The promotion by the Aktionsbündnis Landmine was made to the members of the German House of Parliament so that they vote for more money to clear landmines in the third world.
Execution
The piggy bank without forelegs shows impressively what landmines are doing to civilians. The piggy bank was given to the members of the German House of Parliament on 15th November 2007, the day of the vote on the amount of public money spent on clearing landmines in the third world.
Outcome
On the day of our promotion, 15th November 2007, the German Government decided to rise the budget for foreign aid and the clearing of landmines from 69,1 Million Euros in 2007 to 108,9 Million Euros in 2008, an increase of 58 %.
A big success for the Aktionsbündnis Landmine and for the thousands of victims.
