OVERVIEW

Description

The purpose of this project is to nurture children’s creativity and provide them the opportunity to express their ideas and imaginations.

“Dream Car Art Contest” is a drawing competition where children design and draw their dream car.

After the local contests held worldwide, top 900 will advance to the world contest and the final winners will be invited to Japan to attend the award event.

Not only sponsoring the Contest, Toyota has also launched special websites in each country and contributed to bring up children’s creativity in various ways such as arranging professional illustrator’s drawing workshops or donating drawing materials to schools.

As a result, this contest, which started out in 2004 with only 2000 children from 14 countries, gradually gained recognition and in 2012, it burgeoned with receiving applications from 622,000 children from 67 countries.

In response to this success, we have created documentaries to explore background of children’s drawing.

These documentaries won over 200 thousand views soon after the release and were introduced by various media sources.

Now the project has been recognized by a huge number of children and parents worldwide. At the same time, Toyota’s dream “To create the future of children’s dreams” also widely accepted.

These activities were carried out internationally supporting dreams of children from all over the world and has provided opportunities to people who were involved to think actively of “Better Future for Children”.

This will bring on the world to accept and recognize widely the Toyota Brand “Creating the Better Future”.

Execution

Local contests and events held at Toyota branches all over the world is the foundation of this Dream Car Art Contest Project.

At local events, each country come up with various ideas and planned appealing events such as drawing workshops with the professional illustrators. Also combining the drawing events with TV stations and amusement parks.

The top 900 artists of the local contest will advance to the world contest and the winners of the world contest will be invited to Japan for the exciting award events.

The sixth Dream Car Art Contest held in 2012, was a remarkable achievement of having 622,000 children’s drawings.

To make the outcome of this Art Contest widely known, we asked two of the winners to write a letter to their future self and created two documentaries exploring the feelings and the meaning behind their drawing. We have also put them on our website for further recognition.
