Description

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neuromuscular disease that attacks the nerve cells that carry signals from your brain to your muscles. As these neurons degenerate, your muscles atrophy and your body becomes become paralyzed. Death typically occurs from respiratory failure within two to five years of diagnosis. There is no known cause for ALS, and, to date, no known cure. Approximately 2,500 - 3,000 Canadians are living with the disease. Unfortunately, most people have never heard of ALS, let alone understand what it does. To solicit donations, we needed to change that.
