Execution
The Albertina in Vienna, with its “old masters”, houses one of the world's major art collections. There can surely be no better place to launch a medially effective advertising manifestation for Telekom Austria's alarm systems. With the permission of the gallery's management, a re-worked copy of Vermeer's “Portrait of a girl with pearl earrings” was hung within the regular collection.
Closer inspection of the painting resulted in a surprise, for she was seen to be cheekily poking her tongue out at the viewer. The painting's plaque bore the statement: “No chance for thieves. aonAlarm Services”. A slap in the face for potential criminals, which also made its mark beyond the confines of the Albertina.
Outcome
Within a short period of time the entire market for telephone-linked alarm systems grew by 100%, from which mainly aonAlarm Services profited. This is the equivalent of a 50% increase in market-share after just one year and the absolute Top of Mind Position within this market for aonAlarm Services and Telekom Austria.
