Description
For 700 years one of the best cheeses in Switzerland has been produced in the idyllic Appenzellerland. Three herdsmen have been advertising their cheese from their bench in the Appenzellerland.
As a mark of gratitude, Appenzeller wanted its loyal consumers to enjoy the same wonderful views as the herdsmen on their bench.
Appenzeller cheese started a Facebook campaign. For each 'Like', a seat was added to a real wooden bench in the Appenzellerland – and provided with a personal nameplate.
Official world record in the Guinness Book of Records, thousands of visitors, numerous media reports and a million Facebook contacts.
Execution
The three original herdsmen have been advertising their Appenzeller Cheese from their bench in the Appenzellerland for many years and and are famous througout Switzerland.

- Rather than just increase the Facebook fanbase by 50%, Appenzeller increased it by an incredible 150% in only six weeks.
- Thousands of visitors made their way to the bench in the world in the Appenzellerland to enjoy the wonderful views for themselves.
- Numerous media reports covered this event and the campaign generated over a million Facebook contacts. The Guinness Book of Records certified this bench as the longest in the world.
