Description

Our one main obstacle as far as restrictions was keeping the program a PG rating while advertising a bloody and mature plus rated video game. We had to choreograph a fight and demonstrate the real uses of the games weapon with no blood or actual sword strikes. This particular obstacle proved very challenging but we felt successful at the end of the day.

Execution

Our show took an in-depth look at Kratos' Blades of Chaos from the popular God of War video game series. We Included interviews about the creation of Kratos, his blades and the original Spartan weapons that influenced their design. We combined the game history with the real life history the game was based on to attract both the hardcore game fans but also people who have never played the game before. Our show coincided with the release of the new God of War video game and we cross-promoted the show with the game to draw fans to watch the show.

Outcome

Within the first couple days we had over 40,000 views on YouTube and the views keep climbing daily as the video spread across the globe.

The piece not only drew a lot of views but also started a big discussion with online viewers. Mainly viewers wanting to see more episodes with different video game weapons exposed or brought to life. It also was a great way for our client to give a history and promo for their video game while having it feel like it was part of an ongoing web series and just a standard commercial giving them the ability to reach viewers who had never heard of the game before.
