Mon-chan is a unique character. Designed based on a kanji character meaning “to ask the truth to the god,” it let viewers intuitively understand the program concept. Because there is only one Mon-chan in the entire world, it gave a fresh impression to the consumers as if the character was crisscrossing the world and advertising the program all on its own through appearances in the TV program, live performances, and various websites.
Outcome
The number of Mon-chan fans, the viewers, related books and merchandise sales, and monthly website accesses has increased. The program, originally set for a year, will be extended for another year due to its popularity. Responding to users’ requests, the character’s blog widgets will be created in the second-year website.
