Background
Bar-B-Q Plaza’s brand slogan is ‘Make the most of now’ so they wanted their customers to make the most of their meals. But with over 200kg of leftovers going to trash every day, they wanted a solution to reduce food waste. As a result, we wanted to inspire the entire community to help reduce waste and think about recycling.
Description
The film starts off as a typical restaurant ad showing mouth-watering images of food. A little girl and her dad are enjoying their meal until she asks whether they are actually making the most of it. Her confused and bemused dad avoids the topic but she insists on an answer. The dad and the waiter brainstorm on how they could make the most of everything in front of them. We go on a journey as they give us some of their thoughts: leftovers are repurposed into dog food, vegetables are used as fertilizer, used chopsticks are turned into placemats and plastic bottles in so many things. We end the film by asking the viewers to share their ideas on how we could all help reduce wastage.
Execution
A 3min online film, that was also broadcasted on TV, with a call-to-action to a dedicated microsite. The film was used to launch an integrated campaign – The BBQ Fulfill project. As an initial step to reduce food waste in our restaurants, we turned leftovers into dog food and redefined the traditional doggy bag by creating the “ALL-YOU-CAN’T-EAT” Doggy Bag.
