Description
We are introduced to a number of children playing with their favourite toys. As the film goes on we soon learn that the best toy they own isn't an actual toy but their parents who play with them.
Execution
We wanted real kids and their stories to create an emotional film for Ikea. I ran the auditions and discovered some beautiful characters while uncovering their unique life stories which I then rewrote into the film with the agency. The casting dictated the script. Ultimately this gave us a lot of heart and soul to massage into the film.
I remember in our first set up on day one of the shoot asking one of the little boys why he created his imaginary robot friend. He answered openly, "Dad doesn’t play with me much anymore”. I teared up a little but I think we all knew in that moment we were in for an emotional and magical ride with these lovely little souls.
