Description

The film uses symmetry found in Parisian architecture and watch design to create a link between Breguet and their Parisian heritage. Focussing on this symmetry and employing a 3D animation technique, we created complex kaleidoscope images and patterns from a combination of locations historically linked with Breguet. The Petit Trianon at Versailles was selected because Breguet was watchmaker to Marie Antoinette, also the original Breguet storefront at Quai d'horlogerie which only survives as an engraving was mixed with other iconic Paris locations to strengthen the link between Swiss manufacture and Parisian cultural heritage.

Execution

All digital manipulation was done using a combination of Ciniema 4D and Adobe After Effects. The watches were filmed in 5K and then that footage was manipulated in AE to create the geometric patterns and shapes that link with the architecture with the watch mechanisms. Some of the images of architecture were mapped onto 3D shapes to allow for perspective and to help transition from scene to scene. Grading was done in After Effects as well. All watches are live action, filmed in the factory.
