Description
We reminded Johannesburg about Scouts South Africa, and how they ‘learn by doing’, through a live demonstration. The Scouts constructed their very own billboard on one of Joburg’s busiest roads. People could see what they achieved, the fun had and the final result. More than this, they built a means to generate revenue, by later opening the media space to other advertisers.
Execution
We got Scouts from all over Johannesburg to come together and build their very own billboard. Potential Scouts and their parents could see first hand what Scouts do, what they could achieved and the fun they had doing it. The actual billboard itself was placed on one of Johannesburg’s busiest roads in close proximity to several schools. The event was then filmed and shared on various social media channels. The structure remained permanent, leaving the space open to other brands to utilize, which resulted in a monthly income for the Scouts.
Outcome
Within a few weeks:
Traffic to the website increased by 733%.
Average session duration increasing by 62%.
44 new Scouts attended meetings at various troops throughout the Johannesburg area.
R 25k potential monthly income through rental of the billboard.
