Background

For it's 20th anniversary, Belgium's telco-provider Telenet decided for once not to look at the future, but to go back in time.

In their ""Full steam ahead"" campaign"", Telenet wished to highlight its innovating role in the belgian telco-sector throughout that period. Youngster don't always realise how technology has made their lives easier. That's why Telenet wanted a social activation, to show how technology progressed.

Execution

We launched the app on april 28th with an introduction video on Facebook. That same day our social media influencers announced they were accepting the cahllenge to use it . Also on april 28th we started with the Facebook carrousel ad and the Twitter app card. Downloads were limited to 5.000.

The first 5.000 downloads were gone the first day.

The app also received a lot of free media exposure with 2 minutes of prime time radio and articles in Libelle and Nina magazine, one newspaper sites and on blogs.

With 25.000 extra downloads, we also launched an extra push in social media.

Thousands of people shared their Camerapp pictures on social media at the end of May.
