Description
The Cancer Association of North Rhine-Westphalia works to improve care for cancer patients. One of their key objectives is to educate people about ‘prevention and early diagnosis’. This also includes breast cancer, where self-examination is an important part of early diagnosis.The aim of the project was to communicate the need to focus on breast cancer prevention and to heighten awareness of the name of the cancer organisation.
Execution
Within this context, a breast cancer prevention package was developed which encourages women to take the opportunity of early diagnosis. The package includes an educational DVD and a removable brochure with guidance on how to carry out breast self-examination. The package was distributed amongst gynaecologists and at several events.
Outcome
Very positive feedback of places, where the package was distributed (gynaecologists, schools, health institutions).High increase of visits to the website of the Cancer Association of North Rhine Westphalia.
