This was a fun opportunity to share a NY Giants fan’s epic quest for a Bud Light while still addressing the limitations on live sporting events because of the global pandemic. The trick here was to take viewers on a relatable emotional journey. We shot and scored the piece to create maximum emotional connection with our cardboard cutout hero. The director decided to go as lo-fi as possible, using a puppeteer in a green screen suit who worked a very simple but ingenious rig that was later erased in post. The director shot hundreds of stills before settling on the slightly goofy, sweet half smile the hero would wear through the piece. This expression had to convey a number of emotional colors. To create further empathy, we made sure our protagonist’s challenges getting his Bud Light were quintessential New York. All the stunts are practical.
