Description

To launch the new Volvo Drive Series, a new line of automobiles that consumes less fuel – being more economic and ecologic friendly at the same time in Portugal. Through ad magazines, posters and net banners we asked the customers: HOW FAR CAN YOU GO WITH A VOLVO AND THE TANK OF FUEL? Who ever answered that challenge on our website, could be one of 3 Drivers that won a new Volvo Drive. In just two weeks, more than 6.000 PEOPLE attended the Volvo site and joined the challenge. In August, we selected 3 drivers and started the race that was followed by a TV crew that sent a live feed to the Challenge website. When the winning car REACHED PARIS (ALMOST 2.000 KM FROM LISBON) the campaign became a big hit online, with a huge buzz in blogs, forums, social media and among all Portuguese car fans. In the worst year of the economic crisis, the Volvo Drive Series completely SOLD OUT (August/September 2009) in the Portuguese dealerships, with a 6 MONTH WAITING LIST.

Execution

Outcome

In the worst year of the economic crisis, the new Volvo Drive Series completely SOLD OUT (August/September 2009) in the Portuguese dealerships, with a 6 MONTH WAITING LIST for the new Volvo Drive. And now, almost one year after the campaign, the google results for "Volvo Drive Challenge" are astonishing: 1. 220.000!
