Description

This short film is a modern day re-enactment of the legendary “Christmas Truce” that took place at the beginning of the 20th century. On the evening of 24 December 1914, two opposing forces staged an impromptu unofficial ceasefire to enjoy a particularly poignant Silent Night in the middle of the First World War.

This short film brings events from that historic event up to date, drawing parallels with 21st Century society, using real insights through life experiences in a typical modern family.

The campaign sets out to remind us that “Christmas exists to make the impossible possible” thanks to Carrefour’s PASS Card, which offers interest-free purchases throughout the Christmas period, providing a helping hand to families at a particularly difficult time of the year for the family purse strings.

Execution

The short film, which was directed by the renowned Spanish film director Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, uses a documentary approach to narrate a true story; the ceasefire that took place on Christmas Eve during the First World War. Although in this film, the contrast between the narration and the images we see on screen; a running battle between a modern day father and his teenage daughter when he walks in on her canoodling with her boyfriend at home, setting off yet another family running battle, is what gives the film its unique impact and app
