Description

Ciel is a brand that has shown its concern regarding the reduction of trash pollution. Every year, the brand takes actions to fight this problem but this year, we found that the digital world is also a source of pollution. Billions of spam mails keep filling our e-mail accounts and remain unseen generating a yearly energy consumption, which if saved, could light a city like New York for six months.

The Idea:

Ciel joined Google and created Splant. Splant is a Google Chrome extension that recycles spam mails stored in your e-mail account and uses the equivalent energy to power machines that feed vertical gardens in Mexico City.

Ciel joined Google and created Splant. Splant is a Google Chrome extension that recycles spam mails stored in your email account and uses the equivalent energy to power machines that feed vertical gardens in Mexico City.

Splant is an app that really eliminates spam from your account and calculates the amount of energy that it would have spent if it had remained stored in the servers. And then the energy is used for something good.

Outcome

After just a few days, the short film reached over a million views. People starting talking about it so much that the film was invited to participate at International Film Festivals. It was even selected to represent Mexico at the Cannes Film Festival.
