For one night, the Fünf Höfe was transformed into a gigantic public opera house, creating an exciting fusion of art, architecture and commerce. Singers, dancers and musicians of the internationally renowned Bavarian State Opera impressed visitors with an unexpected entertainment experience against a backdrop of exclusive retail outlets: dancers in the lobby of a bank, percussionists six metres above the audience’s heads, a complete choir singing from the windows of offices on the 4th floor.
Outcome
The HypoVereinsbank’s Classical Festival Night drew a record crowd of over 15,000 visitors – a 22% increase compared to 2003. Press reviews in local media had a circulation of over 13 million – an impressive amount for a city with a population of 1.2 million.
