To raise awareness for Manila’s polluted rivers and tributaries, we collaborated with artists to produce artworks.

The artists used Dirty Watercolor, unique pigments created from polluted water samples.

The water samples were collected from 6 of the most polluted rivers in Manila. The samples were processed in a laboratory, decontaminated through autoclave and heated in an oven-dryer for 24 hours.

The different pigments were mixed with a binder. We produced different pigments capturing the colors of Manila's most polluted rivers like black, sepia, burnt sienna, gray and brown.

These pigments were used to paint portraits of children and families living along the dead rivers.

Weeks before the exhibit, all artworks have been sold.
