This holiday film from Canadian QSR, Tim Hortons, opens on the traditional-looking snowman we often see depicted in the media. But with every cut that follows, the film reveals other snowpeople that look much different. Their decorations reveal they were built by people of diverse backgrounds. We see an Indian-inspired snowperson in a traditional Dupatta, a Caribbean-inspired snowperson with a pepper nose and plantain smile, an Inuit snowperson adorned with beadwork and feather plums from regalia and many more. Including snowpeople built by families representing the African, refugee, Middle-eastern, differently-abled, LGBTQ+, LatinX, Asian, and European communities. We even get to see some of the actual families having fun building their snowperson.
Musically driving the film is a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Auld Lang Syne, a holiday classic given new meaning as our end super leaves viewers with a powerful statement of togetherness: we are all made of the same snow.
