Casting Michael Kelly as a follically challenged character in this campaign for Supercuts was kind of inspired. The idea of this wizened figure, talking about the importance of taking care of your hair … from the perspective of someone who no longer has it was irresistible. The director worked closely with Michael to calibrate the tone, which was somewhere between cheerleader and disappointed AA sponsor. The trick was to keep a sense of overarching narrative structure - Michael’s building righteous anger through the different vignettes. Everything, the look and feel of the piece, were in service of this through line.
