Description

Campaignforrealbeauty.com is the spiritual hub of a global campaign sponsored by Dove. It carries no advertising or Dove products. Instead it represents what Dove believes, by inviting women to engage in a global dialogue about beauty stereotypes and the harm those types can inflict. Users are invited to vote on contrasting views, and are further engaged by topical discussions and global/local bulletin boards. The site introduces the Dove Self-esteem Foundation, an effort to tackle eating disorders among young women. Within a few weeks of launch, the U.S. site alone gained hundreds of thousand of votes and bulletin board postings. Perhaps more important than the volume, is the veracity: women feel comfortable enough on this site to share deeply personal views and expose genuine concerns and vulnerabilities.
