Description
To launch a campaign to promote the new mobile Internet connection device (e-GO) by Zain, which mainly highlighted that the connection is the fastest mobile Internet to ever be released in Kuwait.
Execution
Since digital media is not popular in Kuwait, we wanted to create something that would both promote the product as well as create hype on the digital media level. Banners were placed on websites announcing a mini-site to be launched on Nov. 12, 2007 for one hour only. When accessed before the assigned date, the mini-website displayed a countdown asking the visitor to come again later. Discussions began on the local blogs as people wondered about the new product. On Nov. 12, 2007, the website was launched from 9-10 PM. Every visitor got a 50% discount on the e-GO device.
Outcome
The campaign teaser created hype and the response rate was very impressive. In one hour, more than 1,500 people visited the site. One fifth of them subscribed to the Zain e-GO service. The amount of people who accessed the site during that one hour is worth mentioning since only 800,000 of the population use the Internet.
