OVERVIEW

Execution

For each fatal victim caused by violence in the last years, we disabled permanently one seat at the stadium.

In its place we installed a chair resembling a tombstone as an "Eternal Seat".

Each Eternal Seat, besides the name of the victim and the date of death, had engraved a web address where fans could enter and make a pledge to become a "PEACEFUL FAN”.

Each seat became a symbol of respect to the victims, but most importantly, the seats themselves became the non-violent message we were looking for.

Eternal Seats impacted fans during games in such a way that their behavior changed from aggressive to respectful and calm.

Outcome

164,000 fans signed the online pledge at www.asientoeterno.com and commit themselves to avoid violence at the stadiums.

Since the installments of the Eternal Seats no violent incidents have been registered.

The amazing results of the campaign have made other countries ask The Ecuadorian Football Association advice on how to implement Eternal Seats at other stadiums around the world.
