OVERVIEW

Background

The EUandME film underpins the European Union’s fundamental beliefs and opportunities for its citizens within the EU, such as the right to live without discrimination, freedom to travel, live, study and work across borders, promoting help with start-up businesses and freedom of speech.

Execution

For director, casting is of utmost importance. From the beginning he knew he wanted to work with an upcoming actress. The casting was done in Belgium and young actress Maïlys Dumon landed the role. The way she had to recite the well-known poem was of crucial importance for the outcome of the film. She symbolises the young European citizen who needs to be aware that freedom of expression is something everyone needs to uphold.
