OVERVIEW

Description

Instead of agitating for gun control we did the opposite - we gave access to weapons to everyone. Then we watched. Counting how many people were able to pull the trigger as soon as they had an opportunity. So we can prove the necessity of gun control.

Execution

We created a website where anyone could register and join a queue to control a robotised sniper-rifle from his computer for 20 seconds in real time. In reality it was just a camera, but the users didn’t know about it. On social media we targeted gun owners. Then on the day the campaign began we closed a city square and filled it with our actors. As soon as the user aimed at the person our operator enabled the trigger button. If someone pulled the trigger our operated commanded the actor to fall on the ground. Visual effects added realism. We also had a special chatroom on the site. We have been filming this during the day. Later the video was uploaded to the internet.

Outcome

The campaign started a huge discussion on social media, it was featured on news sites and video-podcasts. Independent Enthusiasts for Gun successfully launched their first campaign and gained the following results:
