Singtel is the market leader in the Singporean telecommunications industry and they have been inextricably part of Singapore’s development. Through more than 140 years, they have built connections between individuals and businesses in everything that they do.

These connections meant even more to Singtel during COVID-19 when we witnessed families struggling to connect with one another because of visitation restrictions despite strong desires to stay connected. Many turned to online calls to spend time together and it became a habit for many Singaporeans.

As the local network giant and communications kingpin in Singapore, Singtel had a clear role to play here: To remind and demonstrate to Singaporeans how they can reconnect with one another more powerfully with Singtel 5G. We crafted an emotional piece displaying how family connections can be faster, smoother, more reliable, and meaningful with the Singtel 5G network.

They were the best of friends. Secret handshakes, dancing at the beach, carrying one another on their backs, and surprise birthday celebrations. Now, he doesn't even reply to messages or pick up calls.

The film opens with a man talking about his relationship with his father, the support they gave each other, and memories that they shared. Old camcorder footage of the father and son duo in the past is interjected with scenes of the man in the present day who seemingly ignores his father’s messages and calls. On his father’s birthday, the film reveals that he is actually narrating a video made by him and sharing on a video call through the new SharePlay function on iPhone 13 Pro via 5G. This special moment of connection shows the son’s love for his father and is made more powerful with Singtel 5G.
