OVERVIEW

Description

To show that we’re as serious about our players as they are about our game, we launched The Pitch, a multi-platform content juggernaut with one singular purpose: becoming a launchpad for aspiring streamers, eSports athletes and content creators. A place where they could hone their craft, grow their audiences, and connect with new ones – all through the FIFA 17 season.

Execution

Long form episodes of The Pitch kicked things off every week. We recapped the competitive FIFA weekend, picked the brains of eSports athletes, checked in with must-follow streamers and content creators, and showcased the best community action.

On Wednesdays, we took to Facebook Live to exclusively announce the all-important Team Of The Week: a series of upgraded, highly coveted players that are being released into the game every week.

Throughout the rest of the week, 10 short form content series kept the community entertained, with every series providing value for a different niche: football fans, squad building aficionados, competitive gamers, etc…

Hosted by up-and-coming YouTubers Mavric Wolves, and celebrating nothing but members of the FIFA community – both popular and unknown – The Pitch truly was a platform for the fans by the fans.

Outcome

All guests and hosts saw an average increase of 220% in subscribers on their channels, 7 featured gamers signed professional eSports contracts, and two fans became the official commentators for FIFA’s eSports events. On top of that FIFA 17 saw a 150 million increase in in-game revenue from the FIFA Ultimate Team game mode.
