OVERVIEW

Description

The sight of millions of rural women with empty vessels and the sound of one such vessel- a musical instrument called Ghatam- gave birth to the idea FillEmptyVessels. It entailed using the sound of the Ghatam at concerts titled “Echoes of Empty Vessels”, to spread awareness among the urban folks about the rural water crisis. Thus, the humble Ghatam became a powerful tool to bring focus to millions of other empty vessels. To ensure maximum awareness and attendance at the concerts, we used digital, radio and on-ground activations to send the sound of the Ghatam echoing across thousands of people.

Execution

In a span of just one month we managed to organize Ghatam concerts across India. The small concerts were done in water parched villages to make the people there aware of the water conservation efforts. The big concerts were done in cities to make the urban population aware of the many empty vessels in the rural parts of India.

Outcome

60000 urban Indians took the pledge to conserve water and donate whatever they can.

As a result we were able to collect donations worth millions with which we initiated some efforts in villages.

500 families of rural India had water in their homes.

20 rainwater-harvesting plants got funded.

More than 5000 Water tankers were sent to many villages.

We were able to bring a smile on the faces of many thirsty villagers.
