Description
Rather than just showing the huge variety of video, photos, and audio that gettyimages has to offer, we decided to prove it. We came up with the idea of creating a DJ from scratch, using only gettyimages files. We composed a song, a music video, and his whole visual identity using only audio, video, and photos from gettyimages.
First we put together the song, using countless audio files, including percussion, guitar riffs, drums, basses, sound of a rubber duck, cheerleaders shouting chants, and much more. After the song was done, we created a music video using photos and videos from the gettyimages collection. The whole process took months of work, from the conception of the visual language to the editing process, where we adopted a collage aesthetic. Finally, we created the DJ’s visual identity using photos from gettyimages.
Execution
Composing a song is a complicated process, and creating a music video is even more so. Now, just imagine having to do both using only audio, photos, and videos from gettyimages. It took months of research, creative work, and editing.
First we created the song, using a huge variety of audio clips of all sorts: percussive sounds, drums, guitars, basses, sports chants, and even the sound of a rubber ducky. Many of the sounds weren’t instruments at all. Once that was done, we created the music video for the single. The editing process was extremely complex, and our greatest challenge was to find photos and videos that would make sense together and that would look like a real music video. The result was a fantastic, electrifying clip full of entertaining juxtapositions.
Outcome
We introduced the DJ to the world, putting the video on the brand’s YouTube channel and getting the song to play on one of Brazil’s biggest radio stations. We also created a website where people could watch the music video and see how it was made. During the first week, firstaperture.com got thousands of views. The number of people accessing the gettyimages website went up 125%. The results make it clear that First Aperture made plenty of noise, and has already won over some fans.
