Description
The Copenhagen and Kyoto climate conferences were scheduled to be the settings of discussions about initiating a program that would allow corporations to earn so-called Carbon Offset Points by agreeing to protect small pieces of endangered rainforest. These points would allow companies to continue polluting in other parts of the world, with no net reduction of carbon emissions. Greenpeace didn’t like this idea one bit. In fact, they felt compelled to point out how illogical and dangerous this program could be. They needed to tell the world that this was a horrible idea, otherwise known as a C.R.O.C.To help people see how absurd these Carbon Offset Points really were, we created a fictitious organization called C.R.O.C. or Carbon Regulatory Offset Committee. We released a video that appeared to be a PSA created by C.R.O.C. The video drove people to thecroc.org where the education continued and people could learn why Greenpeace was upset about Carbon Offset Points.
