OVERVIEW

Background

Movie trailers are widely available on the Internet, but they are presented on a flat screen that is highly disassociated from the viewer. We believe that through Virtual Reality (VR) technology, we can place the viewers right into an environment that can be highly associated with the movie contents, and creates an unique immersive experience that lets the users to enjoy the movie trailer from a perspective within the movie, and in turn attracts the view's interests in the upcoming Movies on Fox Movies channel. A 3D environment is designed for each of the movies that blends into the movie trailers, and animations are also designed within the scene that synchronises with the contents being played in the movie trailers. This creates an immersive experience that was never seen before by the entertainment industry, and engages the viewers into the movies in a different level.

Execution

The project started in October 2017 in Hong Kong and finished in November 2017 in Hong Kong, and was launched as a promotion campaign for Fox Networks Group to promote new Movies coming to Fox Movies channel. The campaign ran from November through to the end of December in 2017, and attracted lots of engagements from the South East Asia region. The app was deployed onto the App Store and Google Play throughout the Asia region, and promoted through social media to attract installs. Fox Networks Group also collaborated with Food Panda in different cities, and gives away specially designed Fox branded Google Cardboards for meal deliveries through Food Panda to increase public awareness of the campaign.
