Execution

Publishers worked together to leverage their ad inventory to promote all #pressing content – including their competitors within our #pressing feed policy news aggregator units. We leveraged personality and publisher social handles to amplify content as it was released. GEpressing.com was used as the mainstay for all content so users could dive deeper into policy areas covered from all publishers. The program culminated in a live event, #pressingLIVE, with talent and top DC millennial staffers convening to discuss key policy issues, all streamed live on TheNewRepublic.com. The event was hosted by The New Republic’s owner and editor-in-chief, Chris Hughes, one of the co-founders of Facebook.

Outcome

#pressing drove an average of 22+ hours of engagement with readers spending two minutes per session within the ad unit; 94% clicked through to gepressing.com. Bloggers contributed 235 content pieces which performed 41% above industry engagement averages. GEpressing.com garnered nearly 50,000 page views, 30% were repeat visitors. Content saw average 76% completion rate with podcasting driving highest engagement (11+ minutes/session). Quality of content was reaffirmed with ~5% share rates, over 50% of shares were on Twitter with mega-influencers Bill Gates and Ashton Kutcher retweeting in addition to government officials, policy makers, academic thought-leaders and, most importantly, DC millennial staffers.
