Description
The process of getting ready for a big night out can be extensive, especially for women with a passion for fashion. Closets are torn apart in a desperate search for the right skirt, piles of q-tips are soiled with makeup and an impressive array of poses are performed in front of the mirror before a look gets the wearer's approval. But when it's time to leave, the panicked preparation ebbs into a sultry confidence that makes it all worth it.
Outcome
Knowing our characters would be vibrant women who live and work in a contemporary urban world, we infused the film with a kinetic, modern look. We utilized a variety of techniques depending on the action of the women and the particular demands of our locations, sometimes quite confined in real homes. Throughout, we made sure to maintain a bright, airy feel with the lighting. We used shallow depth of field, even in wide shots, for the viewer’s to focus in on the details and lens into the micro world that parallels the bigger picture of a woman getting ready: the products and accessories, the bra clasp, the zipper, Q-tips and hair pins, various brushes, powders and make-up. The overall visual effect was designed to be fresh, fashion-forward, humanistic and playful. Embodying the notion that the true spirit of going out is really found in the discovery of self- expression.
