Description
In order to bring people together, Beko called all the football fans to join the world’s first global Mexican wave, which was featured on Camp Nou’s led screens rounding the field, during El Clasico, a legendary rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid which is watched by over 500 million people every year.
Execution
The campaign’s mechanism was also easy. Football fans were invited to www.bekoglobalfanwave.com and with just a few clicks, they recorded their own Mexican wave videos in front of their webcams. After that, they took place in the real time fan wave on the website.
By using Facebook platform and targeted facebook ads, we reached fans literally all around the world. We have entries from Angola to Zimbabwe, total of 135 countries, which are beyond our expectations. There were even some entries from the countries where there was a bare internet connection. Thanks to multi-channel products ads we have great reach.
Outcome
In 20 days, we reached 6,543,328 people and got 53,330,655 impressions. We received 1,892 comments on the page and welcomed 8,119 new fans. We also got 278,782 clicks during this time. In total, 106,766 likes featured on our posts which appeared on both Beko and FC Barcelona Facebook pages. Last but not least, 93,438 people visited bekoglobalfanwave.com via Facebook posts
Also, the campaign appeared on major advertising sites like Creativity-Online.com, Adsoftheworld.com, Coloribus.com.
