Description

This entry is an offline-online bar installation that gave patrons a way to keep Happy Hours going (resulting in increased sales) by letting them turn back time. Below are key promo/activation elements:

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

We promoted the campaign through emailers, offline at malls through standees. At the bar we got their attention through tent cards.

REAL TIME ENGAGEMENT @ BAR

At the bar when users tweeted why Happy Hours shouldn't end using #HappyHoursRewind, a signal went to a tweet-powered clock (installed at the bar) that moved backwards to every tweet sent thus rewinding Happy Hours.

ACTIVATION LEADING TO SALES

As a result through the simple act of tweeting Happy Hours kept going. Not only did this result in word-of-mouth for brand but sales also shot up by 40% with the idea receiving coverage on NDTV Prime, FWA and Adage India.

Execution

Instead of creating yet another way to extend happy hours, we turned the concept upon its head by giving users the power to turn back time, thus letting them rewind Happy Hours.

This was made possible by engineering a tweet powered analog clock that moved backwards when a tweet was sent using #HappyHoursRewind.

The installation was put up in Turquoise Cottage. Between 7pm - 9pm (typical happy hours timing) patrons were invited to tweet why Happy Hours shouldn't end using #HappyHoursRewind.

As soon as the tweets were sent the clock started moving anti-clockwise, turning back time and rewinding Happy Hours.

Outcome

In a single night more than 250 tweets were sent which resulted in Happy Hours going on till 12am (closing time) even though the clock showed 9pm!

Not only did this result in significant word-of-mouth for the brand but bar sales shot up by 40% (as told by client)

The idea received extensive coverage, appearing on NDTV Prime, Adage India and was also featured on FWA.

The project was named after the hashtag Happy Hours Rewind and it was Turquoise Cottage’s way of setting itself apart from the crowd while delivering on the great experience they’re known for.
