We had already designed a new holiday look for Caribou that centered on a Fair Isle sweater print. Along with this look was an in-store theme: 'Make It Merry'. The Sweater Maker offered a way to bring this theme and look to life. The idea also played off of the growing popularity of ugly sweater parties. The donation of a sweater for every sweater created gave users further incentive to participate while creating an engaging way to make the season merry for someone else.
Outcome
The app had a great response, was highly engaging and kept people involved; it had 10,824 total users with over 81% of users downloading and sharing their creations. Facebook shares had 214,033 impressions, which generated 19,531 clicks to the app. Web chatter was also incredibly positive both among consumers and the media—the story was picked up by Creativity, Ad Age and the Washington Post. Best of all, 10,000 sweaters were donated making numerous people warm and merry.
