Idea
One of the leading providers of communication technologies and smart devices, HUAWEI introduced to the market the next-generation foldable smartphone P50 Pocket, with immersive big-screen views and innovative features in folded mode. Striving to add top-level aesthetic appeal to each and every detail, they wanted to provide users with a set of original animations for the always-on-display mode with a clock shown on the small screen on top of the folded phone as a part of the user experience.
Execution
Implementation & Materials, style elements, design choices: The created set of custom 2D and 3D animations reflected a variety of plots and styles to give users a choice of visuals appealing to their tastes. From the fairytale-like boatman in the mysterious waters to playful UFO, from calming waves to unbreakable diamonds, from bright and hypnotizing sea creatures to nature-inspired flowers, from stunning mountain views to the sunrise above the Earth observed from space, all these diverse animated visuals let users add a pinch of beauty and aesthetic satisfaction to their daily life and enhance the desirability of the interaction design.
Brand relevance: The designs followed the styles that would be most welcome with the young audience and would be easily associated with the premium product, which are the core values of the modern Huawei smartphone devices.
Placement & Touch points: The animations were part of the built-in product experience for P50 Pocket.
Methods and process: The design followed a process of putting together thorough moodboard sessions, testing the concepts, creating static 3D models and 2D illustrations, rendering the animated effects.
