Background
Lexus ideology of product development is to combine the ‘latest technology’ and ‘human craft’ to create a never-been-before experience. This CGI production,
we embrace Lexus spirit to combine CGI production with creators strength to make a piece of masterpiece. As Japanese, we are really into detail and meticulous things, so we picked up existing tools and sort of ‘hack’ things to evolve CGI making for more better, realistic result and more creative exploration.
Idea
We want to create a CGI film that looks like it was shot in real life.
Then, we evolve CGI production to be more realistic and
believable though ‘Shooting CGI’, involving technology and human camera-work.
Execution
How does it work? The CGI data were sent into ‘Virtual Camera’ that is operated by a real human (cameraman) to capture the scenes from all angle he wishes.
This will create a more organic movement as if it was shot in real life.
This enables creator to freely explore their creativity and put back the
‘human sense/touch’ back into CGI.
We believe this is the first step if a new wave of creativity.
Not only it creates a more realistic CGI,
we can avoid unnecessary rendering and less production cost.
